Saba Comprehensive School is the only secondary education institution on the beautiful island of Saba. The school continuously strives to further improve the quality of education in order to optimally prepare students for a successful future. Our school

As of August 1, 2026, Saba Comprehensive School is seeking a teacher for the following combined position:
Teacher of Spanish and English (1.0 FTE)
Our new colleague holds a teaching qualification (secondary-level certification in Spanish/English). You will teach English and Spanish within the CXC curriculum, with examinations conducted according to the CXC model.
As an education professional, the candidate is able to apply and teach 21st-century skills, differentiate instruction, and provide students with appropriate and holistic guidance and attention both inside and outside the classroom. You possess strong interpersonal
and communication skills and are capable of creating a structured and supportive learning environment.
In this role, you will also serve as a mentor. You will work alongside one colleague who also teaches Spanish and two colleagues who teach English. Our students may come from Spanish-speaking, English-speaking, Haitian, Creole, or Dutch-speaking backgrounds,
but since English is the primary language on Saba we will give extra time for this. As a mentor, you will support students in their personal development and academic progress.
What We Offer
We offer a fixed-term contract, initially for a period of one year, with the possibility of extension based on good performance.
Salary is determined according to the applicable salary scales for secondary education on the Dutch Caribbean BES islands, starting in scale LB, supplemented by a 12% Saba allowance. Income tax on Saba is a maximum of 35.4%.
In addition, the employment package includes:
- holiday allowance and an end-of-year bonus;
- participation in the Caribbean Netherlands Pension Fund (PCN);
- vacation in accordance with the SCS holiday schedule for educational staff;
- a plane ticket and relocation support for candidates moving to Saba;
- opportunities for professional development.
Appointment Requirements
- A Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) is mandatory for employment in education;
- A medical examination is required for admission to the pension fund;
- A copy of obtained diplomas must be included with the application;
- If diplomas were obtained outside the Netherlands or the former Netherlands Antilles, they must be evaluated by the Dutch Education Executive Agency (DUO).
